What is Mips® and how does it help protect me?
Mips® is a low-friction layer built into the helmet that lets your head move slightly during certain impacts. That small amount of movement helps reduce rotational force, which can otherwise transfer to your head in a crash.
How do I know which bike helmet size to buy?
To find your helmet size, measure your head circumference about an inch above your eyebrows, then match that number to Smith's size chart. If you're between sizes, try on options at a local retailer. Once your helmet arrives, adjust the dial for a snug fit and the chin strap so you can fit two fingers underneath it.
When should I replace my bike helmet?
Replace your helmet after five years of regular use. If it's been sitting unused, replace it no later than 10 years from the manufacturer's date. Replace it right away after any hard impact or if you see cracks or damage, even if it still looks okay. Check the "MFG: MONTH/YEAR" sticker inside the helmet to find its age.
Do Smith Optics bike helmets work with MTB goggles?
Smith Optics bike helmets, MTB goggles, and performance sunglasses are designed to work together for a gap-free fit and smooth airflow. When trying on a helmet, wear the goggles too to check the fit across the forehead.
