Smith Optics Eyewear

Performance & Lifestyle Eyewear

Standard lenses can leave colors looking flat and glare hard to see through, right when you're trying to spot a trail marker or read the water for fish. Smith Optics performance and lifestyle sunglasses, along with prescription frames, solve that. ChromaPop™ sharpens color and contrast. Photochromic lenses adjust automatically as light shifts, and polarized lenses cut glare off water and snow. Frames come in a range of colors and styles, built lightweight and durable for daily wear and travel.

FAQs

Where are Smith Optics glasses made?

Smith Optics has assembled and manufactured products in the US since 1965, now based at its Clearfield, Utah, facility, known internally as MFG. That facility handles goggle and sunglass assembly, lens cutting and finishing, and prescription lens grinding, along with strap printing and in-house testing for lens safety and quality.

What's the difference between performance and lifestyle sunglasses?

Performance sunglasses are built around a specific activity, with a secure, grippy fit and lenses like ChromaPop™ or polarized options tuned for glare and contrast. Lifestyle sunglasses focus more on everyday wear and style, with many of the same lens options available but less emphasis on activity-specific fit. Some frames work well for both, so it comes down to whether you need a dedicated pair for sport or something more versatile for daily wear.

Can I get prescription lenses in any Smith Optics frame?

Not every frame supports prescription lenses directly. Prescription lenses are available across a wide range of Smith Optics sunglasses and glasses, but some ChromaPop™ shield styles are built for a non-prescription lens and don't support corrective lenses directly. For those, adapters like the ODS5 let you add your prescription without giving up the frame. Look for the "Add my Rx" option on a product page to confirm whether a specific frame supports prescription lenses directly.
